Innovation from- and for Refugees - InnoCampus Hackaton organized in coordination with gE4Istanbul in February, 2017
In 3-5 February, 36 participants from different cities of Turkey such as Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Siirt, Izmir, Çanakkale, Samsun, Mersin and Batman have formed 9 teams and worked on projects for almost 36 hours to find solutions about education, health, language, basic needs, cultural differences.
Applications to InnoCampus have been evaluated and 36 participants were selected including both Turkish and refugee software developers and designers. Participants developed 9 different projects focusing on different refugee issues. At the end of 36 hours, teams presented their work to jury and audience.
4 teams have received awards in different criteria and categories; sustainable solution, creativity, uniqueness, impact size and IoT (Internet of Things).
InnoCampus took place in FMV Isik University Sile Campus and organized by InnoCampus and International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Microsoft provided the technical service and platform (Azure) to participants, Getir supported teams by participating with 5 mentors and a jury member, SAMM Technology provided technical support to IoT projects with Raspberry Pi s as well as giving mentorship and jury participation. REDROSE opened its’ humanitarian aid and refugee focused database to the teams and gave valuable mentorship to participants.
